Over the past 11 years we have been able to welcome guests from over 30 countries
Our Drop-In invites 75-85 asylum seeker families once per month to The LJS, and we currently have 150 registered families from over 30 countries (pictured above). We have two guest groups that alternate bi-monthly, so each family is invited once every two months to our drop-in.
We require our guests to:
- Have at least one child under the age of 18, as we are a drop-in for families.
- Have an active pending asylum claim registered with the Home Office.
When our families are granted leave to remain, we offer them six more months of service before we signpost them to other organisations for refugees.
Waiting List
We currently have 30 families on our waiting list. We can invite a family off our waiting list if a family is granted leave to remain or when a family moves too far away to access our Drop-In services.
Guests Returning to Volunteers
When a family obtains refugee status and becomes more settled in the UK, we welcome them back as volunteers. We are incredibly lucky to have previous guests volunteering at the drop-in, who have now become family.
